THE BRAND

Established 2 years ago, twentysevennames (formerly known as love-lies-bleeding) is a fresh, new label that has hit the ground running. With art and fashion degree backgrounds respectively, designers Rachel Easting and Anjali Stewart cite contemporary art as the basis for their collections. Their ambition and commitment propelled them onto the New Zealand fashion scene and after having existed for two years, their label can already be found nationwide, and in eight stores across Australia. In 2006, the pair was awarded a place in the Deutz Fashion Design Ambassador Award. The label debuted in a group show at Air New Zealand Fashion Week 2007 where the collection received both national and international interest. Due to international copyright law love-lies-bleeding was required to continue working as twentysevennames. The new label name reflects and thanks the twenty-seven people who have contributed so far; Easting and Stewart continue their quest for world-wide-domination.

THE SEASON

Since it's creation in 2006, directional label twenty-seven names has inspired a cult-like following. With art and fashion degree backgrounds respectively, designers Rachel Easting and Anjali Stewart cite contemporary art as the basis for their collections. Their label is ever migrating and can be found nationwide as well as in stores across Australia, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom. Twenty-seven names will be showing for the third time at Air New Zealand fashion week in 2009 with their Winter 2010 collection 'BUTTER NOTBOMBS'.

The collection draws on the sixties- the fusion of war and peace, mods and the beatles, john and yoko that created a sense of inevitable victory over what? The past perhaps, or the war-torn future. The sense, not the cause, is what we remember today; the music, the art and the energy that made 'Butter not Bombs' a compelling battle cry. Interwoven with this is the influence of Vanessa Beecroft's eerie, human-doll works, creating a collection that is part rebel, part dancer, part lover, part fighter.
